Tuition Schedule

NOTICE

The following tuition information goes into effect January 1, 2026. Current students should refer to the 2025 Tuition and Payment Options for information on tuition and fees for the remainder of 2025.

Cost of Program

For graduate students, the Cost of Program (tuition) is $2,720 for each trimester of enrollment at MCU, regardless of the number of credits the student is enrolled in.

For undergraduate students, the Cost of Program (tuition) is determined by the number of credit hours a student is enrolled in for the trimester. Tuition will be calculated according to the following formula:

Tiered Tuition Structure:

      • Flat Rate Tuition (6 to 10.5 credits): Flat rate of $2,720 per term
      • Part-Time Tuition (fewer than 6 credits): $475 per credit hour
      • Accelerated Tuition (more than 10.5 credits): Flat rate of $2,720 + $300 per additional credit hour over 10.5 credits

For example, an undergraduate student enrolled in the program 3 trimesters per year with an average of 10.5 credits per trimester will finish the program in 4 years and can expect to pay $32,640 in total tuition for the BSM program. This does not include fees, textbooks, equipment, and other potential costs. How does MCU support students in keeping their midwifery education as affordable as possible?

Students may utilize a variety of methods to pay for their tuition: private pay, federal financial aid, private loans, military/veteran programs, and scholarships. See the next section for more information on each of these options.

As an educational non-profit organization, MCU is committed to increasing access to midwifery education while maintaining a high quality educational experience.

    • While the total cost of tuition will vary for each undergraduate student depending on how they arrange their credit hours each term, total tuition cost is capped at $48,960 for the maximum program length of 7.33 years.
    • Students have the flexibility to take fewer or more credits per term without facing a disproportionate financial burden.
    • Students can adapt their education to fit their personal and financial realities while still progressing toward graduation.
    • MCU hosts a buy/sale/trade group for textbooks and other learning materials for enrolled students.
    • MCU encourages all prospective students, applicants, and students to submit a yearly Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – the earlier, the better!
    • MCU maintains lists of scholarship resources within and outside of MCU.
    • MCU’s year-round fundraising efforts (such as through PayPal, social media campaigns, and our online store) are directly focused on donations for the MCU Briana Blackwelder Scholarship Fund to provide as many student scholarships as possible.

Students will be invoiced for the Cost of Program each trimester. The Cost of Program includes academic and clinical tuition only; all other fees must be paid when due.

Cost of Program and other fees may be raised periodically without notice. Fees will be posted on the MCU website and in the MCU Student Handbook. Tuition, fees, and additional costs are estimated as closely as possible in the MCU website and catalog. Students must meet all agreed-upon financial obligations to the school as per the policy in the MCU catalog before being allowed to graduate or receive official transcripts.

Payment Options

Students may select between mailing in monthly/semester payments, paying by credit card, or automatically deducting the COP from a bank account.

Federal Financial Aid

Private Loan Options

We accept private education loans from an official lender of your choice.  Please contact VA and Private Loans for information regarding options for a private education loan.  Most private loans are subject to credit approval.

For Veterans

Midwives College of Utah’s Midwifery (BS, MS) programs are approved by the Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs, State Approving Agency for Veterans Education for the education of veterans and other eligible persons. The authority for and conditions of Midwives College of Utah’s program approval are based in 38 CFR 42.4253 for accredited programs.

Students who qualify for the Post 9/11 GI Bill®, or other chapters of VA Educational Benefits, must submit their Certificate of Eligibility to MCU’s School Certifying Official, Emily Rainey (VA and Private Loans Administrator).

Vocation Rehabilitation in each state may also have funds available for midwifery education.

Refund Policy

The Application fee is non-refundable. The Acceptance Processing fee is subject to a ‘cooling off’ period and is refundable if the student notifies the Registrar of their intention to unenroll as a matriculated student no more than 3 business days after the start of PROD 1000. After the 3rd business day, the acceptance processing fee is non-refundable.

Once a matriculated student has enrolled in their first course, the Annual Student fee is non-refundable. The finalized COP for the trimester is non-refundable once the trimester has begun unless a student withdraws from the program by notifying the Registrar, or takes a Leave of Absence before the end of the add/drop period for that trimester. After the add/drop period, any fees associated with a course are non-refundable. Students who withdraw from a course after the add/drop period will not receive a refund for courses dropped. If any refunds are due to a student, they will be paid immediately.

Financial Aid Recipients are required to follow additional procedures for withdrawal. To understand how a withdrawal will affect your financial aid, please refer to the withdrawal section in the Title IV Policy & Procedure Manual.
